It began with an awareness. More than 40 years ago, D.T.S.M.™ was formed to positively impact and impart our knowledge and skills to a burgeoning number of newly licensed automotive drivers alongside existing drivers. Since our inception in 1981, D.T.S.M.™ has grown into a market leader in the driving instruction industry, driven by our "Where Learning is Doing"™ approach that has earned us a reputation for always putting the student's experience first for successful driving careers that await them.
D.T.S.M.™ provides online driver education. Reaching countless individuals who at one time would not have had access to the standard format of driver's education taught in classrooms over the last 40 years, affecting tens of thousands of individuals to obtain their driver's licenses. Our main objective is to train all students to become competent, safe, and defensive drivers.
D.T.S.M.™ owner and founder Chris Dougherty began his career in driver training in 1963 in Liverpool, England. As an experienced driving instructor, Mr. Dougherty moved to Canada with his wife and three children. Shortly afterwards, D.T.S.M.™ Driving Schools was founded in 1981. Mr. Dougherty was a Chief Instructor for the Ministry of Transportation, where he taught at Algonquin College countless individuals seeking new careers over the last 40 years in the driving instruction industry.
D.T.S.M.™ continues operations as a family-owned business.
